Daily Gratitude – Quiet Time

Being a busy mom of two little ones, the blips of quiet time are few and far between. Don’t get me wrong, I love my babies. They are delightful and downright precious. But, let me tell you when those little blips of quiet time do come, I get a sense of utter euphoria at being able to marvel at the exquisite and simply delightful sound of quietness.

I get to choose

The best part about these moments of solitude is that I am in complete control over how this time is going to go.

  • If I want to drown out my thoughts with one of my favorite shows, I can.
  • Say I might like to spend the time sewing or crafting, I can.
  • Maybe I would like to read a book or (more honestly) stare at my phone, I can.
  • Or, if I choose to take the time to appreciate the silence and focus on clearing my mind and meditating, I can. (And I should more often)

Today, I choose to embrace quiet time.

As one of these rare and beautiful moments has suddenly fallen in my lap, I am taking the time to relax my mind and focus on the sounds of the falling raindrops on the tin roof of our back porch.

Today, the silence is telling me to hush and be present.

It is ok to be still and to stop thinking about all of the things, all of the time.

Just be.

Man, that rain sounds so nice. 🙂

What are you grateful for today?
